Espere is Matthias Warnung's expression of 100% Zweigelt from Kamptal, Austria. Dry pale, delicate, and fine with high acidity. This wine is pure class.

Matthias is a young winemaker in the Kamptal, who has quite a reputation for producing high quality, pure, low intervention wines. He has worked in South Africa with Craig Hawkins and the Roussillon with Tom Lubbe at Matassa. He began to make his own wines in 2011 in Kamptal.

Kamptal is one of Austria's most prestigious wine regions, known for its cool climate and ability to produce wines with incredible freshness and minerality. Matthias Warnung has emerged as one of the region's most exciting young producers, bringing experience from working with some of the natural wine world's most respected winemakers – Craig Hawkins (Testalonga) in South Africa and Tom Lubbe (Matassa) in Roussillon.

What you get is dry pale, delicate, and fine Zweigelt with high acidity. This wine is pure class – showing what Zweigelt can achieve when it's grown in a cool climate and handled with a light touch and minimal intervention. The pale colour, delicate character, and high acidity create a wine that's more similar to elegant rosé or light red than typical fuller-bodied Zweigelt.

The combination of Matthias's experience working with natural wine pioneers and his commitment to low intervention winemaking creates wines that are genuinely pure and expressive of the Kamptal terroir. This is Austrian Zweigelt at its most refined and elegant.

Serve it slightly chilled with grilled fish, poultry, lighter meat dishes, charcuterie, or mushroom-based dishes. This is honest, pure Austrian wine from one of Kamptal's most exciting young producers, perfect for those looking for delicate, fine Zweigelt with high acidity and pure class.
