Rozas, Comando G 2023

Rozas is Comando G's village wine from yet another high-altitude village in the Sierra de Gredos. Like their other village bottlings, it's made from old-vine Garnacha grown on granite soils at over 1,000 metres, but each village brings its own character to the wine.

The fruit comes from multiple parcels around the village, all farmed organically and worked by hand. These are steep, rocky vineyards that were largely abandoned until Fernando García and Daniel Landi started rescuing them in 2008. The combination of altitude, granite, and old vines gives the wine its freshness, minerality, and depth.

What you get is pure, energetic Garnacha – red fruit, wild herbs, a touch of spice, and that characteristic mountain lift that keeps everything bright and precise. There's structure here, but it's all about finesse rather than power. The tannins are fine, the acidity is lively, and nothing feels heavy.

Comando G keeps things minimal in the cellar – native yeasts, old barrels, no fining or filtration. The focus is on letting the fruit and the site express themselves, and Rozas does exactly that. It's approachable now but has the balance to age if you're patient.

Serve it slightly cool and let it breathe. It's the kind of wine that shows what the Gredos can do – honest, precise, and great value.
