Sierra de Gredos, Spain
100% Garnacha / Grenache
Emily spent the 2018 harvest in the Gredos region, learning about wine in this lesser known region. She was excited by the combination of high altitude, granite soils and old grenache bush vines that is abundant in this region. There are still only a small handful of quality producers in this region, but they are really putting it on the map. This wine is a beautiful expression of Grenache. It appears like a Pinot Noir in the glass, transparent a pale ruby, the nose is aromatic with notes of strawberry and dried herbs. The palate is full bodied but very elegant and fine. We recommend also trying the Albilllo and Los Peros Garnacha to have a deeper dive into the beauty of Gredos! This wine is aged in a combination of concrete and old 500l barrels for 12 months.
