Villa Calicantus is a biodynamic producer located in Bardolino on the shores of Lake Garda in Veneto, one of Italy's most stunning wine regions. Lake Garda, with its crystal-clear waters, dramatic mountain backdrop, and Mediterranean climate, is not only a beloved travel destination but also creates ideal conditions for viticulture. The moderating influence of the lake brings gentle breezes and reflected sunlight that help the grapes ripen slowly and evenly, while the surrounding beauty inspires winemaking that respects nature and tradition.

The fermentation in concrete is followed by a 12-month-long ageing process in wood and 6 months in bottles. 'The ultimate goal of Villa Calicantus is to demonstrate how Bardolino can (re)become a wine for aging if the grapes from which it derives come from suitable vineyards and if then the wine is respected in the cellar. Our vineyards are located in three very suitable areas of Bardolino, different for microclimate, soils and exposure. Each wine comes from only one of these three areas, and within these areas, each wine is assigned certain parcels. In this way, each wine will tell the intrinsic story of a vintage, in a specific vineyard, in a specific sub-area of Bardolino. In the cellar nothing is added except very low doses of sulfur, it is fermented with indigenous grape yeasts, it is decanted and bottled following the lunar cycles, it is not filtered and it is not clarified.'
