Ligas Patatrava

Patatrava is Domaine Ligas' expression of 100% Xinomavro rosé from Pella, Greece. The beautiful pink, copper colour of this wine comes from the light pressing of Xinomavro, a local red grape. The wine is fascinating as it has great texture and freshness but also a lovely combination of fruit and savouriness, with notes of strawberry, tomato, and Jerusalem artichoke. It's a fascinating and delicious wine.

Domaine Ligas is a small family winery working with biodynamic and permaculture in the vineyards. They are located in the historic region of Pella, which is close to the city of Thessaloniki. The winery was established in 1985 by Thomas Ligas (the father), his daughter Meli manages the winery and makes the wines. The wines are made with low intervention – there is no filtration or fining, no use of sulphur in any part of the winemaking. They work with a number of grape varietals that are indigenous to the area.

What you get is fascinating rosé with beautiful pink, copper colour, great texture and freshness, and a lovely combination of fruit and savouriness. The notes of strawberry, tomato, and Jerusalem artichoke create layers of complexity that make this wine genuinely distinctive. The light pressing of Xinomavro creates a rosé that's both delicate and characterful, showing what this noble red grape can do when handled with care.

The biodynamic farming and zero-intervention winemaking create a wine that's genuinely alive and expressive of the Pella terroir. No filtration, no fining, no sulphur – just pure expression of Xinomavro as rosé. This is natural winemaking at its most honest and compelling.

Serve it well-chilled with seafood, grilled fish, Greek mezze, salads, or light summer dishes. This is honest, fascinating Greek rosé from a small family winery committed to biodynamic farming and minimal intervention, perfect for those looking for something with great texture, freshness, and that lovely combination of fruit and savouriness.
