Ciello, Nero d’Avola, Cantine Rallo

Ciello is Cantine Rallo's pure Nero d'Avola from Alcamo on the northwestern coast of Sicily, where the Mediterranean climate and limestone soils create ideal conditions for this noble red grape. This is Nero d'Avola at its most honest and approachable, showing what Sicily's most important red variety can do when it's grown in the right place.

Cantine Rallo is a family-run winery in Alcamo that's been making wine for generations, focusing on quality and expressing the character of their terroir. Nero d'Avola is Sicily's flagship red grape, known for making wines with depth, character, and enough structure to be interesting without being heavy.

What you get is pure Nero d'Avola – ripe dark fruit, a touch of herbs and spice, and that characteristic warmth that comes from the Sicilian sun, balanced by enough freshness to keep it lively. There's structure here from the limestone soils, but nothing feels heavy or overdone. It's the kind of wine that works just as well on a weeknight as it does at a dinner party.

The winemaking is straightforward – letting the fruit express itself without interference. The result is a wine that's food-friendly, easy-drinking, and genuinely enjoyable, showing what Nero d'Avola can do when it's handled with care.

Serve it at room temperature with pasta, grilled meats, pizza, or aged cheeses. Don't overthink it – this is pure, honest Sicilian red at a great price.
