Vollenweider Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling 2022

Vollenweider's Riesling Kabinett from Wolfer Goldgrube is a classic expression of one of the Mosel's most renowned vineyards. Wolfer Goldgrube – 'Wolf's Gold Mine' – sits on steep slate slopes above the village of Wolf, where the combination of blue Devon slate soils, southern exposure, and the moderating influence of the Mosel River creates ideal conditions for Riesling.

Founder Daniel Vollenweider created a reputation of being one of the Mosel's most exciting producers, working with meticulous attention to detail in both vineyard and cellar. His partner Moritz took over the reigns following his passing, and his  approach is minimal intervention – letting the fruit and terroir express themselves without interference. The result is wines with purity, precision, and remarkable aging potential.

This Kabinett shows the classic style – delicate, off-dry, with racy acidity balancing the subtle sweetness. You get white peach, green apple, citrus, slate minerality, and that characteristic Mosel tension that keeps everything lifted and precise. There's elegance and finesse here, with layers of complexity that unfold as the wine opens up.

Kabinett is the lightest and most delicate of the Prädikat styles, typically lower in alcohol and perfect for food pairing or enjoying on its own. This wine works beautifully with spicy Asian cuisine, seafood, poultry, or fresh cheeses. The balance of sweetness and acidity makes it incredibly versatile.

Serve it well-chilled and give it some air if you have time. This is drinking beautifully now but will develop further complexity with a few years in the cellar. Classic Mosel Riesling from one of the region's best producers.
