Malvasia Rosada is Suertes del Marqués' expression of this rare pink-skinned mutation of Malvasia from the volcanic slopes of the Orotava Valley in Tenerife, Canary Islands. This is one of the most distinctive wines you'll find anywhere – grown on pure volcanic soils at altitude, showing what this indigenous variety can do when it's treated with respect.
Suertes del Marqués is located in the Orotava Valley on the northern slopes of Mount Teide, where the combination of volcanic soils, Atlantic influence, and dramatic altitude creates unique conditions for viticulture. The vines are trained in the traditional cordón trenzado (braided cordon) system, growing ungrafted in sandy volcanic soils.
Malvasia Rosada is a rare pink-skinned mutation of Malvasia, producing wines with a distinctive copper-pink colour and aromatic complexity. What you get is red berries, stone fruit, herbs, volcanic minerality, and that characteristic bright acidity and freshness from the altitude and Atlantic influence. There's texture and grip from the skin contact, but nothing feels heavy – the wine remains elegant and precise.
The winemaking is minimal intervention, allowing the volcanic terroir and unique variety to express themselves. The result is a wine that's both distinctive and genuinely drinkable, showing what makes Canary Islands wine so special and different from anywhere else in Spain.
Serve it cool (not cold) with seafood, grilled fish, charcuterie, or dishes that sit between white and red wine territory. This is honest, characterful wine from one of Europe's most unique wine regions, perfect for those looking for something truly different.
