Etna, Sicily
Nerello Mascalese
Elegant, pure with an intriguingly aromatic nose, the palate is medium bodie with high acidity and fine tannins - this is great wine for a Nebbiolo, Sangiovese or Pinot Noir drinker.
Eduardo Torres Acosta is a newer wine maker to the region. He moved to Sicily in 2012 from his the Canary Islands (which is where he is from). After working with Occhipinti and Passopisciaro, he began making his own wine from vineyards that he rents. He makes the wines in a small garage in the town, which is located in Solicchiata. He makes both a white and red 'Versante Nord' which translates as North Facing, as the vines are located on the north face of the volcano.
