Partly aged in barriques and bottled with minimal sulfur, this is a playful, juicy expression of the grape that showcases Moravia's potential for sophisticated red wines.

The Producer

Zdeněk Omasta is a young, ambitious maître de chais who founded Bidule in 2022 with a clear vision: to craft elegant sparkling wines and refined still wines from Moravia's exceptional terroir. Working 7 hectares of estate-owned vineyards in Velké Bílovice and Dolní Dunajovice on quartenary loess soils, Zdeněk combines meticulous winemaking skills with top-notch equipment and organic farming practices (in conversion).

Tasting Notes

This Blaufränkisch is smooth, silky, and fruit-forward with elegant structure. The partial barrique aging adds subtle complexity while preserving the grape's natural juiciness and vibrant character.

While Bidule is best known for elegant sparkling wines (mostly méthode traditionnelle and pét-nats), Zdeněk also produces exceptional still wines that prove Moravia's fantastic conditions extend beyond bubbles. Annual production: around 30,000 bottles.
