Masiero Martha Garganega

Martha is Masiero's expression of 100% Garganega from Veneto, Italy. Aromatic and saline with notes of camomile, dried herbs, and stone fruit. Textural and energetic, this is a truly expressive wine with purity and vivacity.

Established in 2000 on the hills around Trissino, Masiero sits at an altitude of around 400 metres, where a natural amphitheater facing south-east embraces the vines. On this earth of volcanic origin, Merlot and Pinot Nero grapes are grown following a modern biodynamic technique. This idea originates from the desire to respect the natural environment, avoiding any possible chemical intervention that could alter the peculiarity of the microclimate or destroy the vitality of the soil.

In 2014, a project to recover old vines of Garganega, Pinot Grigio, Tai, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc started in the countryside around Sant'Urbano di Montecchio Maggiore. Martha comes from these recovered old Garganega vines, showing what this indigenous Veneto variety can do when it's grown on volcanic soils and handled with minimal intervention.

The winemaking involves 5 days of maceration, then after the soft pressing, the wine ages in a concrete vat for one year. This brief skin contact adds texture and aromatic complexity while maintaining the wine's purity and energy.

What you get is aromatic, saline Garganega with camomile, dried herbs, stone fruit, and that characteristic textural quality that makes it so food-friendly. The volcanic soils bring minerality and salinity, while the brief maceration adds depth without overwhelming the wine's natural vivacity.
