Ligas Xi-Ro

Xi-Ro is Domaine Ligas' expression of 100% Xinomavro from Pella, Greece. Medium-bodied with notes of truffle, strawberry, and dried herbs. A great option for game, mushrooms, and dishes with tomato-based sauces.

Domaine Ligas is a small family winery working with biodynamic and permaculture in the vineyards. They are located in the historic region of Pella, which is close to the city of Thessaloniki. The winery was established in 1985 by Thomas Ligas (the father), who is now assisted by his daughter Meli. The wines are made with low intervention – there is no filtration or fining, no use of sulphur in any part of the winemaking. They work with a number of grape varietals that are indigenous to the area.

What you get is medium-bodied Xinomavro with truffle, strawberry, and dried herbs. Xinomavro is one of Greece's most noble red varietals, known for its ability to produce wines with complexity, structure, and aging potential. The biodynamic farming and zero-intervention winemaking create a wine that's genuinely alive and expressive of the Pella terroir. No filtration, no fining, no sulphur – just pure expression of Xinomavro.

This is a great option for game, mushrooms, and dishes with tomato-based sauces. The combination of truffle notes, strawberry fruit, and dried herbs makes it incredibly food-friendly and versatile, particularly with earthy, savoury dishes.

Serve it at room temperature with game, mushroom dishes, tomato-based sauces, grilled meats, or aged cheeses. This is honest, medium-bodied Greek red from a small family winery committed to biodynamic farming and minimal intervention, perfect for those looking for food-friendly Xinomavro with truffle, strawberry, and dried herb character.
